WHY YOGA?

Make social and emotional learning fun!

 

BREATH

Breathing exercises improve physical, mental, and emotional health.  Students will learn a variety of breathing techniques ideal for building focus, emotional awareness, and self-regulation.

EMOTIONS

Emotional awareness is the first step in developing the ability to self-regulate.  Activities and lessons focusing on emotional reactions versus thoughtful responses help students feel empowered and build resiliency.

SELF-ESTEEM AND COMMUNITY

Lessons that promote self-discovery help students identify their gifts and talents.  Celebrating individual differences within the classroom empowers students and develops an appreciation for diversity.

MINDFULNESS

Practicing mindfulness of self and others helps students make the most of each moment.  Lessons include activities focusing on the senses, interactive games, random acts of kindness and gratitude practices.  Combined, these lessons help students increase executive function, decrease anxiety, and incorporate kindness and respect into their day.

MOVEMENT

Movement is not only fun, but it also impacts the body, mind, and emotions!  Students will incorporate physical postures, sequences, and games as they learn about the benefits associated with yoga.
